Daria “Rook” Nowak

Field Operations Specialist / Former Military
Age: 34
Origin: Poland
Affiliation: International AI Incident Directorate — Incident Response Unit

Daria “Rook” Nowak is the team’s field operations specialist.

A former member of the military, Rook brings hard, uncompromising professionalism to situations where technology becomes a physical threat. Her expertise includes field operations, evacuation, area security, crisis response, and operations involving autonomous physical systems.

She does not seek confrontation. She controls it.

Rook uses force precisely and only when circumstances require it. Her approach is based on training, procedure, awareness, and maintaining control when everything around her is becoming chaotic.

She joined the Incident Response Unit after arriving in Tokyo. At the beginning of her story, she has been in the city for only two days.

Outside IAIID, Rook leads an orderly and structured life. She maintains a high level of physical fitness, enjoys climbing, and cares for two dogs she rescued from a shelter. Practical tracking training with her dogs is another part of her life away from work.

Reserved, direct, and dependable, Rook is not the stereotypical action operative.

She is simply very good at being where she is needed when things go wrong.
