OUT-OF-BOUND A world beyond the known line

The Human Decision

Technology can make a decision. That does not mean it should.

One of the defining social changes of the early twenty-first century was learning that automation and responsibility are not the same thing.

AI can analyse enormous amounts of information.

It can identify patterns humans would miss.

It can recommend an action within seconds.

But when the consequences matter, people still expect someone to be accountable.

This principle appears everywhere in 2058.

In healthcare.

In finance.

In public administration.

In autonomous transport.

In security.

And especially in systems that make decisions about other people.

Human oversight has therefore not disappeared.

It has changed.

The human is no longer necessarily the person doing the calculation.

Sometimes the human is the person who decides whether the calculation should be trusted.

**Technology is a tool.

Responsibility remains human.**
